Schweitzer, above Idaho's Lake Ponderay at Sand Point, has the views of Tahoe and the powder of Utah... without the crowds. This place ROCKS and we are going back!

Excited, excited! We have done two tours to Schweitzer, Idaho in the past and we had spectacular times there. It is time to go back and rip it up again. Schweitzer fills Skiman’s bill: short lift lines, uncrowded slopes, good varied ski terrain, and far enough from the maddening ski herd to offer some chilled, retro, skiing. There is a SNOW CAT day option for experts. I did this the last time I was at Schweitzer and it was excellent and highly recommended. I love this resort! And when you add into the mix a very funky, affordable, town of Sand Point, Idaho only twelve miles away… done!

Sand Point, Idaho, on the shores of Idaho's largest lake, is gorgeous, fun, and affordable. We will spend 5 nights in the #1 rated hotel... right on the lake.

Sand Point, Idaho, on the shores of Idaho’s largest lake, is gorgeous, fun, and affordable. We will spend 5 nights in the #1 rated hotel… right on the lake.

Sand Point, Idaho is spectacular. Located on the shores of huge, crystal clear, Lake Ponderay, this town is small, walkable, and beautiful. All bars and restaurants are within walking distance of our hotel. And an added bonus: it is not replete with high ski-resort prices. You will not find $20 burgers here. If that disappoints, this is not the town for you. Lodging: We are going to the #1 rated hotel in Sand Point, Best Western Edgewater Hotel,  located right on the lake shore. All our rooms will be lake view. The property has all the amenities and a restaurant and bar on premises. Everything is a short walk away, so going out at night for a few drinks and dinner will be very easy and convenient. There are no meals included in this package. Single occupancy: Add $195 for the entire 5 night stay. If you prefer, we can try to match you up with a same-sex room mate. No guarantees of success, but we can attempt. More often than not, we are successful. The Air: For some mysterious reason, flying into Spokane, WA is very affordable. Of course, the air cost varies depending on where you are flying from. We have built into the package an air cost of $225.  The price of your package will be more or less as per your departure city.

Getting Air:

For whatever reasons (unknown to mere mortals) the air to Spokane is very very affordable right now.  Most Western skiers are avering 225.00 round trip fares and 370.00 from the East Coast.  The best way to get air these days is just find the best price out there that works time-wise and buy it.  Ask us for the time parameters before you buy and go hunting.  It is easy and cheap right now.  We have build in a guesstimate of $225 for the air in our package price.  You get your air on your own, we take off $225 off the package cost.  Easy and done.

Lift passes: There are 4 possible full ski days on this trip. We are including in the package a 3 out of 5 day Senior pass.  If you are less than 65 years old, the cost of the package is $15 more.

Tons of uncrowded terrain for skiers of all abilities and usually lots of powder.

Juniors 12 and under, take off $45 from package cost. Seniors over 80 ski free and can take off $160 off the package price.    You will have the option of purchasing an extra 4th day pass for a discounted price from the window at the time of final payment.

The ground transportation: Spokane airport is 1.5 hours from Sand Point. Our hotel is 12 miles from the slopes. To cover this transportation need, we have rented 4-wheel-drive vehicles, a mix of SUVs and pick up trucks for the ski gear and luggage. The cost of the vehicles and the gas are NOT included in the package price. Cost will be dependent on the final number of passengers traveling on the tour. A guesstimate of the vehicle cost is @$110.00 per person  and the gas @ $7.00.

NOTE ON GROUND TRANSPORT: Two of our friends have to arrive into Spokane at 7:40 pm on Jan. 25. Since this is later than the rest of the group, they are renting their own vehicle and driving up later than the others. IF you want to do this tour but can’t make it up to Spokane until late afternoon or evening of the 25th, consider joining these two and splitting the cost of their vehicle.
